Aromatherapy essential oils are oils containing aromatic plant extracts. They are known as essential oils, or just as the oil of lavender, or the oil of clove, based on the name of the plant, the extract of which is contained in it. Essential oils were extensively used in healing before modern medicine, aided by microscopes, stethoscopes, antibiotics, and anesthesia completely took over. According to the science of aromatherapy, the different aromas in these aromatherapy essential oils have different curative effects.
Lots of people are under the impression that essential oils find their place mainly as part of religious rituals. Yet others believe that these aromatherapy oils are the fascination of only those people who are smitten by the charms of the exotic east. This is far from true. Aromatherapy essential oils can do much more than that.
For general health: Essential oils have a prophylactic and curative effect on human health. Essential oils are easy to store, easy to handle, and are readily available everywhere. As such having them at home is no problem. Some common aromatherapy essential oils are tea tree oil, eucalyptus, and peppermint. Of these, tea tree oil is quite popular and is used to cure a wide variety of skin problems like acne, insect bites, and other blemishes on the skin. Eucalyptus and peppermint are effective in curing colds and ridding one of chest congestion. All these aromatherapy oils have to be applied with carrier oils. It is far easier to have a few vials of these oils of aromatherapy at home than run to a doctor for every bug bite and sneeze.
For Massage: Massage of body is the manipulation of body’s soft tissue. This relaxes body muscles and frees one of tension. A person can have a good massage with an aromatherapy essential oil at home itself, if there is another member of the home who has the time and inclination to give it. Massage parlors are a popular feature of many health resorts. However, even crowded cities have massage parlors, and all across the world there are aromatherapy spas that give a person an aromatherapy massage. Even while getting a massage by an oil which may not be an essential oil, an aromatherapy essential oil can be used in an aromatherapy diffuser kept in the vicinity. Breathing in the aromatherapy scent itself has a very soothing and curative effect.
Essential oils of aromatherapy: Essential oils, which contain in them the essence of the aromatic compounds in nature, have a high therapeutic value, and this is what becomes the basis of the science of aromatherapy. Essential oils are contained in aromatherapy soaps, aromatherapy candles, and can be used at home in a wide variety of aromatherapy diffusers. In aromatherapy, essential oils are made use of in itself, or in combination with other oils, or even in combination with other healing practices, to improve a person’s mental and physical health.
In one way or other, aromatherapy essential oils soothe and refresh you, and make the very ambience of the home pleasant, even for others to step in.
