1. Maintaining the nails clean, dry and trimmed short.
2. Wearing of absorbent socks and changing them frequently.
3. Removing shoes and airing the shoes as well as feet frequently. Use hair dryer if need be to dry your feet.
4. Using antifungal powder on your feet as well as shoes.
5. Wearing clean and dry gloves to protect hands from dampness.
6. Washing hands soon after fingering of an infected nail.
7. Wearing shoes in unhygienic public places.
8. Washing of feet and drying soon after coming back from an unhygienic public place.
9. Using sterile pedicure and manicure tools.
10. Stopping fiddling with the skin around the nails.
11. Stopping covering the infected nail with polish.
12. Do not share clothes and shoes with infected persons.
